I think I am in love with these things, y'all! I first read about SitSpots on one of my favorite blogs: A Teeny Tiny Teacher. You can read her post here. I knew I just had to have some of these! They came in the mail the other day. I may have squealed when the UPS man left them at my doorstep. I hope he didn't hear me! Check it out!

You can check them out on their website here. They will send you a FREE sample! I would really recommend doing that first to make sure that they will work on your rug or carpet.
This is the free sample that they sent to me. One of my kiddos cracked me up when he saw it stuck to the floor. He said, "So that's what they mean when they say, 'Sit Criss, Cross, Applesauce'. You want me to sit on that apple and smush it!" Yes, I do, sweet one!

DeleteI looked into these spots bc they are awesome, but they are a 1.99 a piece, so expensive! Does anywhere have them cheaper or in a pack? I wanted 44, but now I cannot afford them.
ReplyDeleteOuch! I only needed 16. 44 would be quite an expense. This is the only vendor that I am aware of. You might want to consider writing a grant or checking into Donors Choose. I know a lot of teachers get stuff for their classrooms that way. Best wishes!
DeleteHi! I saw on their site where you can purchase the foot long strips for 1.99, and cut them into 2 inch squares and make 6 out of one foot strip for 1.99! Just a thought. They would not be a cute shape, but would serve the purpose.

DeleteAny tips on how to teach kids to not pick at the sitspot or take it off the floor? What did you do if you came across this issue??
ReplyDeleteI do two things. First, our rule is that you have to sit ON the Sit Spot. We also sit with our hands in our laps or on our knees. If someone breaks that rule, you will hear a loud velcro ripping sound. Then, they have lost their priviledge for a while. They have to sit off to one side for a bit. It rarely happens though!
DeleteAny seating suggestions for rooms without carpet? I did carpet squares last year, but they got super filthy. My principal doesn't want them sitting on the tile floor without a 'barrier,' and we can't put tape on our floor. :(
ReplyDeleteI have seen some neat ideas recently on Instagram. One teacher was using vinyl mesh place mats from the Dollar Store. I have seen people cutting up rectangular bath mats into 4 squares. That way you can wash them and move them with ease. I also saw someone who was using some cheap chair pads and square rugs from IKEA. I hope you find an option that works for you. DeleteWhat a great idea! I use carpet circles for my class as I work with autistic children, and they like to use the same colours and to sit on the same circle! Just to add, to get your carpets thoroughly cleaned, you are best hiring a carpet cleaning company. They'll remove all stains and make the carpet last much longer.
